Which Ninja Should You Buy? Every Model, Decoded

Mini, Mini Plus, Premier, Pro, AutoBarista: seven Ninja espresso machines decoded on the maker's own specs - what each one adds, and who it is for.

Ninja sells seven espresso machines under three model names, and the names do not tell you what changes between them. The short version: the Luxe Café Mini (ES301) and Mini Plus (ES351) are 2-in-1 machines - espresso and drip - and the only difference between the two is that the Mini Plus froths milk for you. The Premier (ES601) is 3-in-1: it adds rapid cold brew. The Pro (ES701) is 4-in-1: it adds an independent hot water system, and also brings five espresso styles instead of two and a lever tamper instead of tamping by hand. The AutoBarista (AE1001 / AE1002) and AutoBarista Pro (AE1051) are a different kind of machine altogether - fully automatic, one touch, no portafilter - where the Pro model offers thirteen drinks to the standard model’s ten. If you want to pull and tamp shots yourself, you want a Luxe Café. If you want to press a button, you want an AutoBarista.

The whole Ninja line in one table

Ninja’s model names carry no consistent meaning: Pro means a hot-water system on a Luxe Café and three extra drinks on an AutoBarista, and Plus on a Mini means an automatic milk wand. This is the whole line in one place, on the specifications Ninja publishes for each listing.

Premier or Pro? The question most people are actually asking

This is the comparison with by far the most search behind it, and the honest answer is that the Pro (ES701) adds three things to the Premier (ES601): an independent hot water system, five espresso styles in place of two, and an integrated lever tamper in place of tamping by hand. Everything else - the conical burr grinder, the weight-based dosing, Barista Assist - is the same machine underneath.

So the Pro is worth the difference if you drink tea or americanos (the hot water system is genuinely separate, not a workaround through the steam wand), or if tamping by hand is the part of espresso you would rather not learn. If you only ever pull a double and steam milk, the Premier does that with the same grinder and the same dosing.

The two Minis, and the one thing that separates them

The Luxe Café Mini (ES301) and Mini Plus (ES351) are the same 2-in-1 machine - espresso and drip coffee, no cold brew - in the same compact body, with the same conical burr grinder, weight-based dosing and adaptive brewing. The single published difference is the milk: the Mini has a manual steam wand you control yourself, and the Mini Plus has AutoFroth, an automatic wand that produces steamed, thin or thick microfoam hands-free.

That is the entire decision. If texturing milk is something you want to learn, the manual wand on the Mini is the one that lets you. If it is a chore you want removed, the Mini Plus removes it.

The AutoBarista line is not a Luxe Café at all

The AutoBarista machines, which Ninja announced in May 2026 as its first fully automatic espresso machines, are a different category from everything above. There is no portafilter and no tamping: beans go in, you press a drink, and the machine grinds, doses, brews and froths. Grind iQ selects from 50 grind settings automatically - the Luxe Café grinder is a 25-setting burr you set yourself.

Within the line, AE1001 and AE1002 offer 10 one-touch drinks and the AE1051 Pro offers 13. That drink count is the difference Ninja states between them.

Why this page documents rather than scores

CoffeeLabAdvisor publishes a score only for machines that have been through a full evaluation, and none of these has. What you are reading is a profile: the specifications Ninja itself publishes for each listing, organised so the model names stop being confusing, with the differences between them stated plainly.

That is a deliberate limit. We have not pulled shots on any of these machines, so this page makes no claim about how the espresso tastes, how durable they are, or whether any of them is better than the others. It tells you what each machine is and what it adds, which is the question the model names make hard to answer. The machines further down this page carrying scores are the ones we have evaluated.

Frequently asked questions

Should I get the Ninja Luxe Café Pro or the Premier?

The Pro (ES701) adds an independent hot water system, five espresso styles instead of two, and a lever tamper instead of tamping by hand. The grinder, the weight-based dosing and Barista Assist are the same on both. Choose the Pro if you want tea and americanos from the same machine or would rather not tamp; otherwise the Premier pulls the same espresso.

What is the difference between the Ninja Luxe Café Mini and Mini Plus?

One thing: milk. The Mini (ES301) has a manual steam wand, the Mini Plus (ES351) has hands-free AutoFroth. Both are 2-in-1 espresso and drip machines with the same grinder, the same weight-based dosing and no cold brew.

Is the Ninja AutoBarista the same as the Luxe Café?

No. The AutoBarista line (AE1001, AE1002 and the AE1051 Pro) is fully automatic - no portafilter, no tamping, one-touch drinks, and a Grind iQ system that selects from 50 grind settings on its own. The Luxe Café machines are semi-automatic: you tamp, you pull, and you set a 25-setting grinder yourself.

What is the difference between the AutoBarista AE1001 and the AE1051 Pro?

Drink programmes. Ninja states 10 one-touch drinks on the AE1001 (and the AE1002) and 13 on the AE1051 Pro. Grind iQ, the frothing system and the self-cleaning are described identically across the line.

Which Ninja machines make cold brew?

The Luxe Café Premier (ES601) and Pro (ES701) have rapid cold brew. The Luxe Café Mini and Mini Plus do not. The AutoBarista line lists cold brew among its one-touch drinks.

Do these pages carry a CoffeeLabAdvisor score?

No. These are documented profiles built from Ninja’s published specifications, not evaluations. We publish scores only for machines we have put through a full assessment, and no Ninja machine has been through one.
