The Jura Z10 is the flagship of Jura's bean-to-cup line and the most expensive machine we cover: it produces Cold Extraction Process cold brew, one-touch specialties Jura lists at 32–40 depending on variant, and automatic milk drinks through an integrated Product Recognising Grinder. This review covers the first-generation machine — a second-generation Z10 launched in the US in August 2026 ($4,499; P.R.G.2+; "51 specialties") and is not covered here. At $4,299 (Jura's US store, August 2026) the Gen 1 is a statement purchase for buyers who want the complete one-touch experience, and its internal grinder and absence of a portafilter are design choices, not limitations.

This machine includes a built-in grinder — see our verdict below on how it compares to pairing the machine with a dedicated grinder.

🏆 CoffeeLab Award 2026 winner — Best Bean-to-Cup Machine

Best suited for

  • Premium buyers who want every one-touch feature from our review
  • milk drinks without learning to texture by hand — the steam wand is automatic from the specification
  • a one-box counter — the grinder is built in from the specification
  • press-button consistency over pulling shots — a bean-to-cup machine grinds, doses and brews itself from the specification

Consider another option if

  • you want to learn to steam and pour by hand from the specification
  • you want to pull shots by hand and control each variable yourself from the specification

How CoffeeLabAdvisor knows what it knows · Ask the Advisor

The most complete bean-to-cup machine we cover: Cold Extraction Process cold brew, a large one-touch drink menu (Jura lists 32–40 by variant), a Product Recognising Grinder and an automatic milk system that froths and steams. Exceptional, but a very large investment for convenience rather than espresso control.

  • Product Recognising Grinder with automatic grind and dose adjustments
  • 3D brew unit with 5–16 g dose window and P.E.P. pulse extraction
  • One-touch milk cleaning with interchangeable CX3 spout and 10 milk temperature steps

  • Froths and steams milk — most super-automatics can only froth

  • Premium US pricing ($4,299 at Jura's US store, Aug 2026)
  • Non-removable brew group — guided cleaning only
  • Only five user grind steps; not for heavy tinkerers
  • Hose-and-pitcher milk workflow requires cleaning discipline

Shot Quality

As a bean-to-cup flagship, the Z10 grinds fresh beans through its Product Recognising Grinder, which detects the bean type and adjusts grind and dose automatically. Its 3D brew unit and pulse-extraction process deliver consistent espresso across a 5 to 16 gram dose window, and the dual thermoblock holds brew and steam at independent temperatures so you can make a milk drink in a single workflow. There is no portafilter and the dose is automated, so you trade hands-on control for consistency: every cup is repeatable, but you cannot dial in a single-origin the way you can on a semi-automatic. The Z10's signature is its Cold Extraction Process cold brew, which uses room-temperature extraction rather than chilling hot coffee, a genuine point of difference at this price and the headline reason many buyers choose it. In practice this makes the Z10 the most complete bean-to-cup experience available, and the cold-brew function is a genuinely different reason to choose it over the E8.

Steam & Milk

The Z10 has Jura's most advanced automatic milk system, with interchangeable milk spouts, 10 milk temperature steps and one-touch milk cleaning. Uniquely for the class, it both froths and steams milk — Stark Insider's hands-on testing "found the Jura Z10 produced outstanding micro foam as well as milk steam", and most super-automatics can only froth. Our 5/5 plant-milk catalog rating reflects the documented milk-system specifications (temperature steps, spout options, froth-and-steam capability) — it is not a CoffeeLabAdvisor hands-on test, and none of the reviews we cite tested plant milks on this machine. The automatic system is consistent and convenient, though less customisable than a skilled manual wand; the hose-and-pitcher workflow requires a short cleaning routine after milk drinks, and no milk container is included at this price.

Who It's For

The Z10 is for buyers who want the complete one-touch experience with no compromises on features: cold brew, a huge drink menu, automatic milk and an integrated grinder, all in a flagship-grade machine. It suits premium households and espresso lovers who value convenience and consistency above all. The honest counter-case is that at roughly $4,299 it is a very large investment, the fixed dose and automated grinder offer little room for enthusiasts to tinker, and servicing is through authorised centres with proprietary products. Buyers who enjoy dialling in, or who want more espresso control for less money, are better served by a semi-automatic plus a dedicated grinder. The Z10 is the flagship for convenience. The honest verdict is that the Z10 is for the buyer who wants everything in one machine and is comfortable with the flagship price and the servicing model. Buyers who want hands-on control will find the automated approach limiting, which is the main caveat to weigh against the price.

Build & Value

The Z10 is built to Jura's flagship standard: premium materials, a clean and imposing design, and components engineered for years of daily use. Its value case is the breadth of the experience, cold brew, a large one-touch drink menu and automatic milk in one machine, rather than raw espresso performance. The cost of ownership is significant: proprietary cleaning tablets and filters, guided cleaning of the non-removable brew group, and authorised-centre servicing all add recurring expense. At $4,299 it sits well above the E8 and far above the De'Longhi and Philips bean-to-cup machines. Buy it for the build, the cold brew and the convenience; it is not the right tool for espresso purists on a budget, but for its target buyer it is the benchmark. Overall the Z10 justifies its position at the top of the range through build, cold brew and drink variety, though the ongoing cost of ownership is the part most buyers should plan for.

Jura Z10 — FAQ

Is the Jura Z10 worth the high price?

If you want the complete one-touch experience, Cold Extraction Process cold brew, a large one-touch drink menu, automatic milk and flagship build, yes, it is the benchmark. If you value hands-on espresso control or a lower budget, a semi-automatic plus a dedicated grinder delivers more control for far less money. If convenience, cold brew and the full drink menu are the priorities, the Z10 is the benchmark.

Does the Z10 really make cold brew?

Yes. The Z10 uses Jura's Cold Extraction Process: it brews at room temperature over a longer cycle rather than chilling hot coffee. The result is a genuinely different cold brew, which is one of the machine's signature features and a point of difference from most bean-to-cup machines. It is the machine's signature feature, and the main reason many buyers step up from the E8.

Does the Jura Z10 work well with plant-based milk?

The Z10's automatic milk system is the most configurable in our catalog: interchangeable spouts, 10 milk temperature steps, one-touch cleaning, and it both froths and steams. Our 5/5 plant-milk catalog rating reflects those documented specifications — it is not a CoffeeLabAdvisor hands-on test, and none of the reviews we cite tested plant milks on this machine. The temperature control and interchangeable spouts give it more flexibility than most automatic systems.

How is the Z10 different from the Jura E8?

The Z10 is the flagship: it adds Cold Extraction Process cold brew, a Product Recognising Grinder with automatic grind and dose adjustment, and a larger drink menu, at roughly $4,299 versus the E8's $2,599. The E8 is the step below, still excellent, but without cold brew and the top-tier grinder. The E8 is the sensible value step; the Z10 is for buyers who want the flagship experience.

What maintenance does the Jura Z10 require?

Jura proprietary cleaning tablets and filters, a milk-system rinse after milk drinks, and guided cleaning of the non-removable brew group. Servicing is through authorised centres, which adds recurring cost compared to the self-serviceable semi-automatics. These are ongoing costs that are worth planning for, since they are higher than on a self-serviceable machine. They are a real part of owning the machine, so factor them into the total cost.
