De'Longhi Magnifica Evo Review (2026)

De'Longhi

Written and reviewed by the CoffeeLabAdvisor editorial team · Published 3 August 2026

The De'Longhi Magnifica Evo is the value play in the bean-to-cup category: an integrated steel burr grinder, an automatic LatteCrema milk system and one-touch drinks at roughly $750, a fraction of the Swiss premium. As a bean-to-cup machine it has an internal grinder and no portafilter, which is by design. It is the machine we recommend to buyers who want convenience without the Jura price tag.

This machine includes a built-in grinder — see our verdict below on how it compares to pairing the machine with a dedicated grinder.

Shot Quality

As a bean-to-cup machine, the Magnifica Evo grinds fresh beans through its integrated steel burr grinder with 13 settings and brews through a 19-bar pump regulated down for extraction. The single thermoblock heats quickly, and drinks are produced one-touch from beans to cup. The grinder's 13 steps give a reasonable but not fine degree of control, enough for consistent results across espresso and lungo, though enthusiasts will find less dialling range than a dedicated grinder. Because there is no portafilter and the dose is automated, every cup is repeatable but not individually tunable. The honest trade-off is the same for all budget bean-to-cup machines: convenience and consistency over hands-on control and ceiling quality, which is exactly what most daily-drinker households want. For most daily-drinker households this is exactly the right balance, and the 13 grind steps are enough to adjust between bean types without the machine becoming complicated. It is the balance of price, features and ease that makes the Evo the default value bean-to-cup recommendation.

Steam & Milk

The Magnifica Evo uses De'Longhi's LatteCrema automatic milk system: you connect a milk container, select a drink, and it froths and steams automatically, then the milk spout rinses itself. It is genuinely convenient for daily milk drinks, though we rate it 3 out of 5 for plant-milk support, because oat and soy produce decent but slightly thinner foam than a dedicated manual wand and the texture is less customisable. The single thermoblock means brew and steam share the heater, so very busy milk sequences can be slower than on a dual-thermoblock machine. For one-touch flat whites and lattes it is a strong, easy system; purists who want precise microfoam control will prefer a manual wand, but most bean-to-cup buyers will be happy. In daily use the LatteCrema system is a genuine convenience, and the auto-rinse means the morning routine stays short even with several milk drinks on the go. The auto-rinse and consistency are the everyday wins that keep the routine short for daily milk drinkers.

Who It's For

The Magnifica Evo is for buyers who want fresh-ground, one-touch espresso and milk drinks without the expense of a Swiss machine, the value entry into bean-to-cup convenience. It suits households that drink several coffees a day, want consistency and are happy to give up hands-on control. The honest counter-case is that the single thermoblock and plastic internals are a step down from the Jura dual-thermoblock machines, and enthusiasts who enjoy dialling in will be frustrated by the automated grinder and fixed dose. If you want convenience at the lowest reasonable cost, this is the machine; if you want a higher build or more control, the Dinamica Plus or a semi-automatic is the alternative. The clear positioning is value-first bean-to-cup, and buyers who want the premium build or more control should expect to pay more for a Dinamica Plus or a Jura. It is the clear value pick, and the premium machines only make sense if build quality or finer control are priorities.

Build & Value

The Magnifica Evo is built to De'Longhi's consumer standard with a mostly plastic body and a two-year warranty. It is not as substantial as the Jura machines, but at roughly $750 it is the best price-to-features ratio in the bean-to-cup category. The value case is straightforward: an integrated grinder, automatic milk and one-touch drinks for about a third of the price of a comparable Jura. The main caveats are the plastic internals, the occasional grinder chute clumping, and the fact that you cannot self-service as easily as with a semi-automatic. For the price it is an excellent convenience-first purchase, and the removable brew group keeps maintenance simpler than many rivals. All considered, the Magnifica Evo is the value benchmark of the category, and the plastic internals are a fair trade for the features it delivers at this price. The removable brew group and simple upkeep make the running experience pleasant for a machine at this price.

De'Longhi Magnifica Evo — FAQ

Is the Magnifica Evo worth the price?

Yes — it is the best price-to-features ratio in the bean-to-cup category, delivering an integrated grinder, automatic milk and one-touch drinks at roughly $750, about a third of a comparable Jura. You trade Swiss build quality and fine control for that value, which most daily drinkers find a fair trade. The value case is clear, and the machine's simplicity is part of its appeal for daily drinkers.

Does the Magnifica Evo have a built-in grinder?

Yes. It has an integrated steel burr grinder with 13 settings that grinds fresh beans for every cup. Thirteen steps are enough for consistent espresso and lungo, though less fine control than a dedicated grinder or the top-tier bean-to-cup machines. The auto-rinse keeps the milk path clean, and the system is genuinely low-effort for daily lattes. The auto-rinse and consistent texture are the everyday wins for daily drinkers.

How does the LatteCrema milk system work with plant milk?

It froths and steams automatically from a connected milk container and rinses after use. For plant-based milks it produces decent but slightly thinner foam than a manual wand, and we rate it 3 out of 5 for plant-milk support. It is convenient rather than customisable. This makes the Evo the sensible default for value-first bean-to-cup buyers. It is convenient and low-effort, which is what most bean-to-cup buyers want.

How does the Magnifica Evo compare to the Philips 5400 LatteGo?

Both are value bean-to-cup machines in the same band. The Evo has 13 grinder settings and the LatteCrema system; the Philips 5400 has the LatteGo milk system, which is simpler to clean with two dishwasher-safe parts, and a 12-step grinder. Choose based on which milk system you prefer. If easy cleanup matters more than microfoam density, the LatteGo is the better choice.

Does the Magnifica Evo require much maintenance?

Moderate. It has a removable brew group that rinses easily, and De'Longhi recommends periodic cleaning with its products. The milk spout self-rinses after milk drinks. It is more owner-serviceable than a Jura, though less than a semi-automatic. The removable brew group keeps most maintenance in your own hands, which is a real plus at this price. The removable brew group is a genuine convenience at this price point.
